Lauren’s first time in Los Angeles. We met Alex in Santa Monica on 1/27/2018 and we all took some photos of each other. Shot on 35mm film via Petri camera.

Lauren posing elegantly on the Santa Monica Pier, wearing a pastel blue and pink Lolita-style dress adorned with lace details and delicate patterns of sweets and ribbons. She accessorizes with a blush pink handbag, white tights with a subtle golden design, and beige heels. Her curly blonde hair is styled in an updo, with strands framing her face, and she wears round glasses. The Pacific Ocean and beach glimmer in the background, framed by the distant Santa Monica Mountains and the railings of the pier. Alex standing on the Santa Monica Pier, her long brown hair cascading down her shoulders as she leans against the railing with the beach and ocean stretching out behind her. She wears a black crop top featuring a striking moon and eye graphic, which adds an edgy, celestial vibe to the photo. Her confident smile and the sunlit waves below create a dynamic and captivating composition. Me, Ethan J. Hulbert, on the Santa Monica Pier, standing casually against the railing with my sleeves rolled up on a light blue collared shirt. My tousled brown hair is slightly windblown, and I’m smiling warmly at the camera. Behind me, the sandy beach and Pacific Ocean extend toward the Santa Monica Mountains, with hints of beachgoers and the bright California sky completing the coastal scene. Alex captured in a close-up on the pier, with the deep blue Pacific Ocean filling the background. Her black crop top shows a moon and eye graphic, while her long brown hair flows in the ocean breeze. Her expression is calm. Lauren standing at the top of a staircase on the Santa Monica Pier in her Lolita dress. Other people pass by, but she commands the scene with her poise and intricate outfit. Her pink bag and tights with golden accents add to the aesthetic, while the accents of a shop behind her hint at the vibrant pier atmosphere. I stand in front of a set of weathered wooden stairs at Santa Monica Pier. The sunlight catches my brown hair, which is slightly windswept, and my blue collared shirt with rolled-up sleeves. Behind me, a man walks up the stairs, and the rails on either side frame the scene, adding depth to the composition. Lauren and Alex walk ahead of me into the bustling crowds on Santa Monica Pier. Lauren’s blonde hair is styled in soft curls, and she wears her pastel lolita dress with intricate lace details, paired with white stockings. Alex, beside her, has long brown hair in front of one of her shoulders, and she carries a rust-red sweater in her hand, a bag and strap over her shoulder. The pier is crowded with people and lined with vendors and street performers, creating a lively backdrop. Lauren stands in front of the fountains at Tongva Park. The water arcs in neat patterns behind her as she poses in her pastel lolita dress. Her outfit features a light blue base with whimsical prints, a pink handbag, and white tights with gold accents. The greenery and modern architecture in the background emphasize the park’s serene yet urban design. Lauren poses under the geometric steel structure at Tongva Park, which overlooks Ocean Avenue and the Pacific Ocean in the distance. The sunlight filters through the lattice-like beams, casting interesting shadows. She stands confidently in her lolita dress, paired with delicate accessories and holding her pink handbag. The scene captures the blend of coastal beauty and architectural intrigue. In the same geometric structure at Tongva Park, Lauren strikes another pose, showcasing her dress and refined elegance. The view behind her stretches to the beach and ocean, with palm trees lining the street below. Her posture is poised, making her the focus amidst the modern framing of the structure. Alex and I pose together under the geometric structure overlooking Ocean Avenue. I wear my blue collared shirt, sleeves rolled up, and Alex is in her dark graphic tee featuring a moon and eye design. The beach and the Pacific Ocean are in the background, stretching to the far horizon.

I don’t really regularly visit Santa Monica Pier or anything, but it’s great for a first-timer. Seeing the Pacific Ocean, getting photos against the beach with the Santa Monica mountains curving around in the back, the tourists, the old wood… it’s nice every now and then, I suppose.

Tongva Park also deserves some credit, although whether it’s good or bad depends on the yearly rates of crime and drugs. But it can always be fun to stroll up to that geometric overlook. So, Lauren’s first time in LA, yes, and her first time meeting Alex–but not her last.
