Making the most of my time in the valley. Taken on a Canon PowerShot digital camera, starting in May 2010 and going through autumn.

Wide view of a bright summer sky filled with large, billowy cumulus clouds, photographed from the passenger seat of a moving car on I-94 in Wisconsin. The sky is a vivid blue, with some darker, denser clouds in the foreground. The landscape below features a green field with patches of trees and shrubs, partially fenced in by a worn wooden barrier. A faint reflection of the car's passenger window is visible in the upper left corner, indicating that the photo was taken from inside the vehicle. Long, open highway view along Interstate Highway 94 in Wisconsin, shot through the windshield of a moving car. The road stretches forward into the distance, lined by grassy fields and patches of dense green trees on either side. A lone car is seen driving ahead, slightly to the right of the lane. The sky above is clear and bright, dotted with fluffy white clouds. Streaks and smudges from dust or debris on the windshield are faintly visible, giving the photo a raw, unpolished feel. Taken with a Canon PowerShot digital camera in the summer of 2010.

Underneath the Hwy 29 bridge in Spring Valley, Wisconsin, capturing the shaded ground and grassy riverbank of the Eau Galle River. A calm, shallow waterway flows under the concrete bridge, its green-painted steel support beams forming a sturdy framework above. The ground is dry and patchy, with tufts of grass growing in sparse clusters. A young woman, Tess, walks up from the riverbank, wearing a fitted dark blue t-shirt and light blue jeans, holding a jacket in one hand. She appears to be looking down at her path while navigating the uneven ground. The late afternoon sun creates stark shadows under the bridge, giving the scene a secluded and peaceful atmosphere. Audio control booth inside a TV news station in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, filled with equipment and multiple screens showing various broadcasts. The booth has a dimly lit ambiance, with numerous TV monitors lining the wall, each displaying different live feeds, news channels, or static. On the glass window, several printed signs are taped up, including one that reads, "It is your responsibility to get mic checks before every shift" and another warning against soda pop or coffee in the area. Below the screens is a Yamaha audio mixing board with a series of buttons and light indicators, as well as small notes and sticky papers stuck around the workstation. The dark room contrasts with the glow of the screens, giving it a busy, active feel. Taken with a Canon PowerShot digital camera.

Side view of an audio technician's desk at the same TV news station in Eau Claire, with a man sitting back in a relaxed pose, monitoring the screens. The man has long hair partially covered by a blue and yellow baseball cap and is wearing a gray hoodie and jeans. His feet are propped up casually on the desk. Multiple computer monitors display colorful audio levels and broadcast schedules, while sticky notes and reminders are scattered around. Beyond the room, the lobby area with the "NEWS" sign is visible through the glass window. The lighting is dim, with a focused atmosphere of quiet observation. Taken with a Canon PowerShot digital camera. A media control room in the TV station, showcasing the main switching boards and a wide array of monitors displaying live broadcasts, commercials, and various programming visuals. Rows of illuminated buttons, levers, and control panels are positioned around the central desk. Brightly colored sticky notes and printed instructions are placed at key points on the board. The top row of screens shows multiple channels, including a cooking show, news, and more. The organized chaos of the room is balanced by the precision required to control the live feed, conveying the technical complexity of broadcasting. A silver sedan with Wisconsin license plates is directly ahead, and the right lane is filled with more cars and a semi-truck that has veered off the road, causing the slowdown. Workers in reflective vests are standing near the truck, handling the situation. The road is lined with dense green trees on the left and a wooden guardrail on the right, blending into the forested landscape. The sky is a bright, clear blue with no clouds in sight, and the sunlight casts a warm glow on the scene. Taken with a Canon PowerShot digital camera during a summer day in 2010. A residential sidewalk in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, photographed in the late afternoon sunlight. A large oak tree with textured bark dominates the foreground on the left, casting a shadow on the well-maintained grassy lawn. The sidewalk runs parallel to a quiet street where an older sedan is parked, license plate number partially visible. A white two-story house with dark green shutters sits on the left side. More trees and well-kept lawns extend down the street, with subtle golden sunlight highlighting the scene. The sky is mostly clear, creating a peaceful suburban atmosphere. A blurred, motion-heavy photo of a camping scene in a dense Wisconsin forest at dusk. Several people are gathered around a low campfire, partially obscured by motion blur. A hand in the foreground holds a marshmallow on a stick, extending toward the viewer. Tess, identifiable by a red bandana, is faintly visible on the left, while another person wearing a green top moves on the right. A black car is barely visible through the shadows in the background, parked among tall, straight trees with lush green foliage. The dim light, rapid movements, and glowing fire create an atmospheric, lively feel. Canon PowerShot digital camera, summer 2010.

A flash-lit photo of a smoldering campfire, glowing dimly among large, rounded stones arranged in a rough circle. The fire pit is filled with white ash and scattered blackened wood remnants, with faint embers glowing red beneath the surface. Two thin sticks lie across the pit, and small, weak flames flicker from charred wood. The background fades into darkness, with hints of forest floor visible around the rocky boundary. The intense flash contrasts starkly with the natural darkness, giving the scene a washed-out, slightly eerie quality. Taken at night during a camping trip in rural Wisconsin, summer 2010.

A candid photo shot through dense green foliage, partially obscuring the subject. Tess, a young woman with fair skin and dark hair pulled back, kneels on the ground, focused on taking a photo of a small orange daylily blooming nearby. She is holding a compact digital camera in both hands, carefully framing her shot. The sunlight filtering through the leaves creates a dappled pattern on the grass and Tess’s black clothing. The image has a voyeuristic, natural feel, emphasizing the lush plant life and quiet, thoughtful moment. Taken with a Canon PowerShot digital camera, summer 2010.

A rectangular window cut into a wooden wall, framing a bright winter scene outside. The parking lot of a Culver’s restaurant in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, is visible through the glass, with several silver and white cars parked in neat rows, including my silver Hyundai Elantra sedan. Snow covers much of the ground, with icy patches and piles around the lot. The Oakwood Mall is visible in the background, along with a few leafless trees and flagpoles standing against a clear, bright sky. Faint reflections and shadows around the window frame hint at the dark interior from which the photo was taken. Canon PowerShot digital camera, winter 2010.

Katie Rodgers, a young woman with long, tanned legs, is sitting on a tiled kitchen floor at a small party. She leans casually against a white cabinet, wearing a fitted black shirt and dark denim shorts, barefoot and relaxed. Her dark, wavy hair is loose around her shoulders, and she has a warm, slightly flushed expression as she looks off to the side, caught in a candid moment. The green linoleum floor and white cabinetry give the space a retro feel, while open boxes and scattered items hint at a casual, laid-back gathering. The warm, dim lighting enhances the intimate, spontaneous vibe. Canon PowerShot digital camera, 2010.

An outdoor concert at a rural Wisconsin festival, held under a wooden pavilion. Anna, a blonde woman in a dress, is performing on a small stage, singing into a microphone while playing an acoustic guitar. Behind her, a bright orange drum set glows under ambient light. Two guitars rest against the wooden support beams. A few audience members are visible from behind, including one person wearing a blue bandana and another in a green shirt. The leafy trees and grass outside the pavilion create a serene backdrop, contrasting with the music-focused interior. The warm, natural light and relaxed festival atmosphere are captured well in this shot. Canon PowerShot digital camera, summer 2010.
