Scooby Doo Movie (2002)
Aw yeah. I totally watched the 2002 Scooby Doo movie. Y’know, the one with Sugar Ray and the style and fashion sense that perfectly sums up the late 90s/early 00s? But hey, you know me, I love those old original Scooby Doo cartoons, and Mystery Inc, too, so when I saw this on Netflix, I knew it was finally time.
I loved it.
I mean, it was bad. Obviously. Like, not a “good” film. But it was enjoyable! The part where Mary Jane’s face got thrown off was in that uncanny valley of 2002’s CG capabilities and actually was horrifying for a moment.
Of course, this is a different canon all on its own. It’s not the same canon as the original series, or at least, it’s an AU that splits off before this film begins. But here they’re from “Coolsville”, where in the original series continued on by Mystery Inc, it’s Crystal Cove. So it’s a different universe. And that makes it better.
And that makes it a great movie. Great!
I also later watched the sequel, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.
